I Think I Finally Figured It out - Part 2 - The Spiritual Fallout of Political Failures

This is a part two of my previous article which looked at the political landscape of Canada and the ways in which the Liberal government manipulates the minds and hearts of their supporters in order to hold on to that support, and briefly touched on the difficulty that the Conservative Party will have in breaking that mental and emotional hold. I would encourage you to read that article before you read this one.

As I was writing that article, I ended up going off on a tangential thought, and by following that I built a foundation of this article that you are reading now. While my previous article was a look at the political landscape as it stands now, this article will look at the spiritual landscape of the current political climate, not only in Canada, but in the U.S. as well, and arguably around the world.

I expended quite a few words on explaining how I view modern politics in the dichotomy of left and right leaning ideologies, but, and I want to be very clear on this point, the gap between left and right used to be much closer than it is now. For much of the history of the western binary nature of the political system, the decision on whether to support the left wing or the right wing of the political realm was not so much a moral one as one based on the fiscal and national policies that were on offer. That has been shifting very slowly for about 50 years now, but the last eleven years in Canada, and probably about the same around the world, has seen a significant acceleration in the far-left social policies that are introduced and implemented by the left wing parties. I also want to point out that the nature of the political right is to conserve what there is, and true to form, the political right has not moved very much over the years, while the political left has veered severely to the extreme left.

We see the left pushing for ever more progressive policies on drug access, sexual and gender deviancies, fiscal irresponsibility in favour of huge social programs, open borders, extreme immigration with little to no controls on it, and the acceptance and promotion of Islam over the historic Christian heritage of the western nations in which democracy has flourished. Of course, all of these things are anti-Christian in their very nature, but we are seeing an ever increasing hatred towards anything even remotely Christian in our left wing governments. This is to be expected when we read the Scriptures, but at my age, I have lived most of my life in a free Canada that was comparatively lead by mostly respectable and responsible governments, and to see these changes happening at such a rapid pace is unsettling at the very least.

It isn't that I think that liberal voters are actively seeking the destruction of Canada and other western democracies, but I will not hold back my accusation that the leaders of the liberal parties of these western nations are devoted to the destruction of the western culture and its' Christian values. I don't think that one can honestly observe the political goings on around the world with an open mind and deny this fact. How else can one explain the destruction of economies and cultures within these nations which are enabled by policies that feed these issues directly and the leaders of the nations absolutely refuse to address those failures.

I would readily argue that the voters on both sides of the political spectrum want what they think is best for their country and the people in it, but there is an ever widening gap between what the two sides believe that looks like. What I have a hard time wrapping my head around is how those who repeatedly vote for the Liberal Party of Canada can look around at this country and think that things are okay. They absolutely aren't, and this is mostly due to the Liberal policies of the last decade, all of which are continuing under this "new" Liberal government, and are even being expanded. To a large degree, Conservative voters see it and are trying to work within the system to reverse course, but our votes are repeatedly overwhelmed by those who believe the political rhetoric of the ruling Liberals.

Both groups of voters are looking to do the most good for society, but the focus of each group is different. A liberal person believes that society is best served when the individual has full freedom to pursue their own desires, whereas the conservative believes that society is best served when society is protected from bad ideas, regardless of how that affects the individuals who hold those ideas. One seeks the greater good of the individual, assuming that society will flourish as a result, and the other seeks the greater good of society, assuming that the individual will flourish as a result.

Just as an example, let's look at one of the oldest issues known to mankind; premarital or extramarital sex. Now, I am going to truncate thousands of years of history to a very small mass here, but I hope that you can follow with the thought process here.

Conservative values have typically been based upon or at least closely aligned with Christian values. That is to say that Christians have been the ones that have typically fought to preserve the social mores of yesteryear. Liberal values have rather tended to be more progressive, looking to build up the individual and considering this a moral good for society. This has not necessarily meant that liberal views were contrary to Biblical views, but that has been changing for the last several decades. In the past, these two views have kept each other in tension to a certain degree, resulting in a slow progression from what many view as repressions of the past to the 'freedoms' of today.

Regarding extramarital relations, Christians, and conservatives, used to hold to the Biblical teaching that it is against God's design and will for His people. A few generations ago, this view was also held by liberals and non-Christians, but that view has been severely eroded by progressivism in the liberal ranks, which has seeped into the Christian and conservative ranks as well. We have seen this in the feminist movement in particular, encouraging women to be more promiscuous, when historically it has been the women who have been better able to keep a rein on their sexual desires and have rejected many a horny male's advances. As a man, I know what the male sex drive is like, and if one spurns God's design for sex, or if God had never set a standard for sex to be only within the context of a marriage covenant, I am sure that virtually every man would gladly have multiple sexual partners. It is in our God-given nature to want to conquer and to procreate, both of which are aspects of the sexual relationship. God revealed His design for sex to remain within marriage, and when we follow that design, it creates an incredibly strong intimacy between the partners in the marriage; as per God's design.

The progressive nature of the liberal mindset has told women that they are not subservient to men, which is contrary to God's design right from the garden of Eden. This has lead to women pursuing 'equity' with men in the workforce and in the bedroom. Women today are every bit as sexually aggressive as men are, and with this comes the annihilation of inhibitions that used to be a natural check on extramarital sex.

Liberals see this as lifting women up and empowering them; conservatives, or more so just Christians these days, see this as the moral degradation of society and undermining the sanctity of the marriage covenant. Liberals see this as lifting up the individual; Christians see this as undermining society as a whole. There we see the elevation of the individual versus the protection of society.

This fits with any other liberal cause that I can think of. Abortion access, homosexuality, pedophilia, access to drugs and porn, transgenderism, environmentalism, socialism, communism; really, many of society's ills. All of these things in this list are contrary to Biblical mores, and we see societies around the globe pursuing all of them more and more, especially under liberal governments where the pursuit of these things are presented as "rights" to be protected, and even enforced by the state.

The liberal mindset is to protect the individual at whatever the cost is to society. The conservative mindset is to protect society at whatever the cost is to the individual. I think that is the main difference between the two.

As I mentioned, these two things used to hold each other in tension. In the political realm, this meant that liberals and conservatives would alternate in holding power in the nations. Liberals would push some progressive social ideas on the country during their tenure and Conservatives would halt the social progressivism during their tenure. Conservatives have never reclaimed lost ground though, and this has been to the detriment of our nation. We have simply held the current position, so whenever a Liberal government would regain power, the scale would slide farther from the Christian values that this nation was founded on, and now we are likely too far to ever recover outside of a good, old-fashioned Biblical revival across this entire nation.

As I mentioned in my previous article, the value that liberals place on the individual is impressively high. The problem with this is that the individual becomes more important than God. God's moral code holds no value when it interferes with the expression of the individual's desires, so because something has to give, God is rejected in deference to the human will. This is how homosexuality is now accepted in society, which has lead to the increase in sexual and gender related ills, including the push to advance the 'rights' of MAPS, or minor attracted persons, otherwise known as pedophiles. Honestly, people who harm children for their own sexual gratification deserve Jesus' own sentence on them, as He lays out in Matthew 18:6; "but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea."

This version has a somewhat unfortunate translation. The original word in the Greek is σκάνδαλον (G4625), transliterated to skandalizō, which means to scandalize; to entice to sin. In my view, and in God's view, anyone who harms a child should be automatically sentenced to death, and Jesus' statement of death by drowning indicates a non-instantaneous death, but one that the perpetrator observes coming for him. This is not the view of the liberal ideology, though thankfully not all liberals ascribe to this view yet. The fact is, though, that the overall liberal ideology would seek to protect the adult and sacrifice the child to the adult's desires.

While I have digressed a little bit, this is the ultimate outcome of the liberal mindset. The glorification and exultation of self over all else. This is why Mark Carney can sleep at night in the midst of his grift and self-enrichment in the decisions that he makes "for the country". But that would be the subject of a different article, if I ever write that one.

I will never claim that any one man, nor especially not a political party will save this country. As I have said before and I will repeat again and again, the only thing that will save this country from destruction is for the people as a whole to turn back to God and repent of our sins, which means to turn away from them and seek after God's will for us.

That being said, I will also go so far as to say that no Christian should ever cast a vote for the current iteration of the Liberal Party of Canada. To do so is to vote to support demonic desires and policies that are designed and intended to destroy this country and to prepare it to be enveloped into the one world government of the End Times. It is hard to tell Christians to vote for the Conservative Party, because while they are not seeking to reverse so many socially immoral laws that exist in this country, at the very least, they are not seeking to expand them and add more. In our current state of cultural demise, I think that this is the best that we can hope for in a binary system.

We have had an eleven year experiment of the left's ideas, and we are decidedly poorer and more divided in this country than ever before. I think it's long past due to change things up. We do not have an election slated for another two plus years, but, the Liberals respond to the polls, and they are emboldened by the support that the polls seem to indicate for them. Now, polls can be manipulated to show whatever you want them to show, but if the polls are being manipulated by the Liberals, it is being done to provide the cover of popular support for what they are doing. If the real poll numbers begin to show that they are losing the support of the people, they will change course. The main goal of the Liberal Party is to retain power, and they will have to go to the ballot box at some point in time, so they will react to bad polling numbers.

So if you are reading this as a Liberal voter, I hope that you are beginning to see who liberal policies are leading this country to destruction. You will have to stop watching your T.V. to see this, but the information is available if you look for it. And if you are contacted by a political pollster and you are asked to answer some questions about the state and direction of this country, remember that your feedback will affect that, and consider your answers carefully.

As I mentioned earlier, one side of the political spectrum seeks the greater good of the individual, assuming that society will flourish as a result, and the other seeks the greater good of society, assuming that the individual will flourish as a result. Only one side is right. We have historical proof that a strong society provides comfort and prosperity for the individuals; we are fast learning that individual freedoms do not provide for a strong and stable society. Without a society, every individual will struggle; without any given individual, society can still flourish.

As we read in Revelation of the times to come, we see that there are forces that stand against the coming beast system; not the entire world will bend the knee. Those resistance forces will be made up of societies that withstood the pressures to deny God; Christian societies. If we don't want to be overrun by the coming evil, we need to make smart decisions right now. We need to protect our western Christian society for the good of the individuals, or we will not have a society left for the individual to survive in.
