 I recently watched a clip from an interview with a man in which he shared a part of his testimony which should serve as a warning to all of us. In this clip, he tells of his experience after an accident that he had in 1979 at which the paramedics proclaimed him as dead. They transported him to the hospital, and some time after he got there, he came back to life. This man was clinically dead for about 15 minutes, and he tells of what he experienced during that time. While he was dead, he had the opportunity to watch the harvest of souls from the earth and see them as they found out their eternal destiny. This man states that in those 15 minutes in 1979, there were 2000 souls that left the earth, and the vast majority of them were met with rejection from Heaven. Only 50 of 2000 people gained access to Heaven; only 2.5%.  That was in 1979, when there was still a significant Christian heritage in this country.   It seems as if the world is beginning to come apart at the seams. There are protests and wars and violence everywhere. It could just be due to our western obsession with the news, but it just seems like everywhere I look these days there is violence and destruction. Whereas people used to go to work, now it seems like there are those who are either paid to protest, or perhaps the protests are a convenient cover for their theft and looting which is how they really pay the bills. Like I said in " Confusion as a Tool of Anarchy and Tyranny ", it is so hard to determine the truth of a matter these days. As much information as we have available to us, it may actually be getting harder to determine truth. Take, for example, the riots that have plagued Paris, Marseille and some other French cities as of late.    Have you noticed it? We are a society that is slipping. This is not the first time that a powerful society has done so, but this is the first time that said society encompasses the globe. Over the course of history, there have been numerous people groups that have built societies based on their collective values. Many of these have remained small while some morphed into empires, often conquering surrounding peoples and wrapping them up into their own growing society. One empire has often fallen to the expansion of another empire, yet my underdeveloped understanding of world history indicates to me that the empire that fell had already been in decline for some time before they succumbed to the newly rising empire. They may not have recognized it as a decline, in fact, they probably thought that they were living in the ultimate decadence of their society, but it was a decline none the less.    Today I am going to attempt to explain my understanding of what happens to us when we die. I will not claim that what follows is Biblical doctrine, because there are verses that appear to be contrary to what I believe while there are also verses that seems to support what I believe. While this can be said of virtually any topic, a lot of times that has to do with whether or not one is reading the Word in context or not, and also whether one is trying to read their beliefs into Scripture instead of getting their beliefs from Scripture. This is somewhat different in that I think that God has left this topic intentionally vague for us. I can't presume to understand why He would do so, but I do know that there are some things that we just don't need to know yet. That doesn't mean that we can't develop a theory on these things.   In my recent article about the coming Great White Throne Judgment, which you can find  here , we looked at Revelation 20:13-15, which says, "And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." In the context of that article, I did not have the time to look into the nature of "death and Hades" as mentioned in verse 13, but I think that there is value in studying it. I think that the nature of death, as mentioned above, especially as a non-capitalized word, is pretty simple.
