My Page May Have Attracted Unwanted Attention
I have taken a bit of a break from my writing over the last two weeks. It was not planned; it just came about. I have decided that I want to write less about politics and focus more on faith and parenting, but I have been dealing with a bit of writer's block and a lack of inspiration. My goal is not to become a "content creator" for the sake of creating content. If I do not have something that I feel is worth sharing with others, I do not want to waste your or my time chasing after views. I will try to get back into writing, but I may be posting less content, especially over the summer, as my time is being called upon in other ways now as well.
All of that being said, this weekend I witnesses something that I cannot explain. Even though I am not writing much at this time, I am still monitoring this blog, and I saw my view count surge this weekend. What has me concerned is that the views do not appear to be organic. I am not even sure that the views were human. I suspect that at least one artificial intelligence engine, and possibly up to four of them found and examined my page. Let me explain.
I have 159 articles posted to this page. The analytics for this weekend only show me the views on 20 of those articles, but the view counts on those articles add up to less than 20% of the total views clocked. Almost every article that is shown in the analytics has the same number of views, and I watched this weekend as those numbers steadily climbed. There were not individual views of random articles of the 159 that exist; the same articles were being viewed over the weekend, and it appeared to be sequential. There weren't numerous views of the same article at once, but rather a steady climb, like one view shared it with another view and so on.
My experience with this blog has taught me that no one individual reads that many articles in one sitting, nor do they share that many of my writings with others. The pace of the views also seems to be too fast people to be reading these articles. This does not appear organic in any way, and it has me wondering what is going on.
For those who are paying attention, we are seeing a steady push in Canada by our Liberal government to limit our speech, and in particular, to silence Christian voices by using loosely phrased wording in the legislation that is open to abuse and partisan interpretation. I know, this is delving into politics again, but I cannot completely ignore the overlap of politics and the silencing of the people of Canada. Unfortunately, too many people still get their information from the legacy media, who are complicit in this by their silence, so a large portion of the population is ignorantly unaware of the changes taking place in our country.
There is one other bit of information that has me concerned. 98% of the views that my analytics indicates occurred this weekend do not have a country of origin. How is this possible? Even if the views are all human and organic, and even if all of the views came through virtual private networks (VPNs), there still has to be a set country of origin for the VPN. These views apparently came from nowhere; exactly what one might expect from an AI.
So I guess what I am saying is that, after what I witnessed this weekend, there is a possibility, even if it is a small one, that I may be being monitored by AI or our government for the things that I am writing. It could be due to criticisms of the government, or more likely, for my unapologetic Christian views. As of yet, there is little that the government can do to shut me up or shut me down, but they are working to change that. Perhaps, someday in the future, I may get arrested for what I have written and my refusal to take it down. The thought police may come for me and send me away for "1984" style re-education.
The best case scenario that I can conceive of is that AI has simply found my writings and has chosen to use it to advance it's library of knowledge. Maybe I should be flattered with that thought. I am not. We live in a world that is consistently turning away from God, so a focused interest in my writings by a non-human, and in my view, a demonic entity does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.
I do not expect to be confronted or arrested any time soon for my writings. In my view, my reach is far too small for anyone to care about anyway, but when it comes to the suppression of Truth, the god of this world will chase down any and every source that stands against him. It would make sense to go after the small threats that cannot afford to defend themselves first, and only go after the larger threats once he gets the legislation put in place.
We are living in interesting times. As governments expand their use of AI into all realms of their responsibility, and beyond, we will see the world change in ways that we will not like. We are warned in the Scriptures that we will be hated and persecuted. There are those who will lose their lives for their faith as the end of days approaches. I guess we'll see how quickly those days come upon us.
