Good Friday


 

Today is the day that Christians commemorate

the day that Jesus was tried, beaten, scourged and killed

in order that the spotless Lamb of God would take upon Himself

the penalty of sins that He had not committed,

and remove that penalty from all who will just believe

in Him and His resurrection.

 I have very recently been faced with a situation that I had not had to previously consider. Let me walk you through my experience, from the introduction of the situation through my processing of the request that brought this situation on, to the final outcome of it. I had a planned event that I was going to on New Year's Day. This has been a long standing event with the same core people, but it has grown over the years. Yesterday had maybe about 20-25 people in attendance. The situation began a couple of days ahead of the event. This is a group of Believers gathering together, but this is a group that contains a lot of people who proclaim Christ as their Saviour without truly understanding what it means to surrender to Him and to obey Him fully. The Spiritual Realm is Real and Active

   I recently had an interaction with someone to whom I am related that left an unwelcome impact on me. This person is a cousin of mine with whom I have contact anywhere from one to two or three times a year. I have always initiated contact, but I respect him for who he is and what he has accomplished. He has done very well for himself in his chosen field and I know that he has helped others, in particular a sibling of his, with the wealth that he has amassed. I suspect, given the field that he is in and my knowledge of it, that he carries a not insignificant debt load, but the fact that he can carry that debt is a testament to his earning capacity. This all comes into play due to the nature of our latest interaction. What Happens When One's Light is Dimmed?

 This is kind of a continuation of my thoughts that I shared in " What Happens When Salt Loses It's Saltiness ?", in which I laid out a recent experience that I had with a group of people that indicated to me that they seem to have lost their saltiness. Their willing submission to the pagan worship of a demon god in a Christian home indicated to me that their presence in this world is having little effect on those around them who need to taste the flavour of God's presence. They believe that they are making a difference and hope that their acquiescence in the name of tolerance will bring someone that they care about to God, but my position is that, after potentially two years of bringing this young man into their homes with there being very little sign that he is at all interested in what they believe, their approach seems to have come up empty to this point.
