Confusion as a Tool of Anarchy and Tyranny
I have been watching with some horror and dismay as "protests" have been erupting in North American cities that are more reminiscent of what I might have at one time called middle east style protests. Unfortunately, due to the scourge of mass illegal immigration, particularly in Europe, those middle east style protests are happening in western civilizations more and more. As a young man, I would often watch the coverage of riots and protests in the middle east on the television and I would wonder, "How can so many people spend so much time protesting? Don't they have mouths to feed and bills to pay?"
Those same thoughts are now running through my mind as I watch what is happening in Canada with Palestinian protesters taking over streets and buildings, and as I am watching Los Angeles and Dallas dealing with mass "protesters" who are angry about the Trump administration seeking out and deporting illegal immigrants who have been abusing and hiding from the system for years under the previous Democrat administration. There are those who argue that there are organizations that are paying these people to riot rather than to work; this is essentially their job. I have seen some evidence that seems to support the accusations that these seemingly organic riots are actually being set up by hugely funded organizations that provide pay and supplies for those who are rioting, looting and pillaging.
What really dug at me today, though, is that while the 'law and order' part of me is annoyed and upset at the rioters in the U.S. attacking the police who are trying to maintain some semblance of order, or so we are told, I found myself feeling the opposite as I watched some footage of protesters in Ireland who were reportedly attacking the police and government in frustration over their immigration policies which have let almost innumerable illegal migrants into their country and the tax payers are on the hook for all the living expenses of these people. As much as I try to look at things with a critical eye, I realized that what I was looking at was pictures and videos of violence, the only context for which I was being given by the source of the pictures and videos. I have no idea if what I am being told is happening is really happening.
On the one hand, I was appalled at the lawlessness of the protesters in Los Angeles, on the other hand I found myself cheering on the protesters in Ireland. I found myself conflicted in my own reactions and I realized that it was due to the way in which the information was being portrayed to me. I cannot prove that what I was being told that I was looking at was truthfully portrayed to me, nor can I disprove it, but the emotional response was real either way.
I have been struggling with what seems to be increasing chaos in the world, but I don't even know if that is the case either. When I was growing up, we had four television newscasts throughout the entire day, and all of the stations followed this same format; the morning broadcast, the noon broadcast, one at suppertime and one more in the evening. Breaking news could come to us over the radio or via a banner at the bottom of the T.V. screen if you had the T.V. on, but otherwise we only found out what was happening at those listed times. We were also completely at the mercy of the news agencies with their correspondents situated all around the world. But that isn't the world that we live in today.
Today, almost everybody carries an internet accessible, still and video camera with them, and there is a huge swath of society that wants to garner attention for themselves. There are platforms where people can post things that others have very little opportunity to vet for truthfulness. We are relying on the honesty of people that we don't know to inform us of what it is that they are showing us. How often does what the private citizen tells us contradict what the "professional" tell us, and how do we know who to believe?
It is getting harder and harder to believe what the legacy media tells us when it seems as though they are driven by an ideology rather than a professional standard. For example, I have been following Canadian politics fairly closely for quite a number of years already. I have known of a certain reporter, by the name of Robert (Bob) Fife who has covered politics for decades. I have long believed him to be a man of some integrity in his reporting, yet just in this last election cycle, I witnessed him report and talk in such a way that betrayed his personal political leanings in a way that even I found embarrassing for him. Unfortunately, I have seen no evidence that he himself is embarrassed by his actions and words. I now know for sure that I cannot trust what Bob Fife tells me because I have been able to readily identify his personal leanings in his reporting. That should not be the case.
Canada has a real problem in our legacy media in that the Liberal government has been funding them for years through what was initially "reported" as being a bail out during hard times, but which has instead turned into annual financial contributions from the government to the media's coffers. How can a media that is significantly funded by the government honestly report on the actions of said government? They can't! If the media is honest and uncovers the corruption of the government, they could lose a significant chunk of their money, which they have all grown accustomed to receiving. Yet that is only part of the problem.
The other part of the problem is the aforementioned 24 hour a day, seven days a week flood of information that comes at us. We are so overwhelmed with information that there is no way for us to disseminate what is truth and what isn't. Add to that the pressure on the legacy media to fill their 24/7 news coverage with material, and they will report on almost anything, whether it is news worthy or not. If there is suddenly nothing worthy of note that is happening on any given day, they will not just shut down their broadcast and say, "Hey, if something comes up, we'll be back." They would lose viewers and revenue if they did that, so they will make sure that they always have something to tell you.
We are the most informed people in the history of the planet, but what value is that information to us? Are we actually smarter? I would argue that the opposite is true. Can we make better decisions or do we have more control over what is happening in our lives, our homes, our communities or our countries? Again I would argue that none of those are the case. We "know" so much, yet we are more conflicted and stressed out than ever.
Confusion reigns all around us, and we are often arguing with someone else about something that really has no bearing at all on our own existence, or at least is something that is out of our control. This confusion is leading to chaos, but I don't believe that this is a natural progression or that it is organic in it's growth. No, I believe that this is by design.
There are many people who argue constantly that one or another group of people are responsible for these things and if we would just take control of those people or the organizations that they run, then everything will work out. But this chaos is worldwide and it is growing across almost all cultures and countries. There are definitely people involved, but the strings of this chaos are not ultimately being pulled by them; these are the actions of the devil, plain and simple. This is part of his end game.
God is not a god of chaos. His creation is ordered and beautiful. From the water cycle of rain falling to the ground and feeding the earth's plants and animals, to the filtration of the water by the soil itself and then the evaporation of that water back into the sky to fall again as rain; it follows a perfect cycle. From the birth of any living thing, whether it be bacteria or insects, plants, animals or people, everything has a life cycle. They all contribute to the functioning of this earth in their own way, and when their time is done, everything dies and returns to the earth, becoming dust and fertilizer. There is a beauty in it all.
But there is no beauty in chaos. There is no pattern. There is no ultimate good for the world. There is only destruction in chaos. Scripture tells us that before God created the world, it was "formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep", but then God stepped in and gave order and form to the void and the formless. That is what God does, He provides order in the chaos and peace in the tumult. This is what He expects of His people as well. In 1 Corinthians 14:33a we read, "for God is not a God of confusion but of peace", and this is in reference to the way that we as believers are to run our worship of Him and our gathering together. For a few paragraphs prior to this word, Paul is laying out how we are to interact with each other in worship and prayer and prophesy. God knows that chaos leads to confusion, so He seeks to order our lives.
Satan, as the antithesis of God, seeks chaos and disorder. he knows that when we are confused we are more susceptible to fear and manipulation. We saw this tactic used in our latest federal election here in Canada. Mark Carney ran on a platform of fear that Donald Trump was going to take over Canada. That was never going to happen, but he played on the fears of foolish people and convinced them that he was the only option to stop Trump. Unfortunately, too many people live in constant fear of something or other, so they were very comfortable latching onto this platform built on fear and allowing themselves to be deceived into voting for more of the same policies that they were tired of just a few months earlier.
A while ago, in one of my articles, I mentioned how my youngest child was so filled with fear for a time that they were actually afraid of what their life would be like if they let go of that fear. I have also had the unpleasant experience of living in close proximity to an older woman who has lived in fear of certain specific things for her entire life. She can be a lovely lady, but when her fears take hold of her, she cannot shake free of them. I believe that she is absolutely tormented by demons of fear, but she will not accept that and she will not allow anyone to try to help her. Her fear seems to be anchored to her home to such a degree that when she is forced to remain in her home due to the cold of winter, she actually begins to lose her mind. I have witnessed it and been the focus of her fear-filled outbursts of anger and accusation. The changes that I saw in her were startling, to the point that her niece, whom I have known for over 20 years, had a hard time believing it, but since she knows me so well, she did believe it.
Recently, I came across something that caught my attention. When Stalin was in charge of the Soviet Union, one of the tactics that he used against his opponents was to constantly change what the acceptable truth was. Keep in mind that in Stalin's Soviet Union, one could be killed without trial if they were found to be in opposition to the government position on anything. So by constantly changing what the government position was, Stalin was sowing confusion. Those who set themselves up in a position of opposition to Stalin would try to stake a position against the government, only to find out that the government had changed it's own position, and they were no longer in stark opposition to it. Or the government would simply stake a position on some other matter and force it's opposition to stake some contrary position, and on and on. This not only confused those who were observing from the outside, but even those who were opposing Stalin didn't even know what they were fighting against.
So let's take everything above and put it all together. We live in a time when virtually everybody has all the information that the internet has to offer at their very fingertips. Even with that ability, we are still being bombarded 24/7 with information from other sources over whose focus we have no control, so we are always hearing of things that are of little to interest to us. We have political forces, both governmental and private, that are always yelling at us to try to gain sway over the hearts and the minds of the people in order to manipulate policy. And now, we have disruptive protests and destructive riots springing up all over the continent and even around the world, and when we try to make sense of what we are seeing and what we are being told, we don't even know if we are standing on the side of law and order or nihilism.
Confusion is running rampant and our bearings are getting so turned around that even those who are taking the time to consider these things are having a hard time making sense of it all.
What is the result of this? Anarchy, enforcement and subjugation. The world will erupt into such chaos that the peace loving people will call on the government to act to restore the peace. The problem is that the government has waited too long to act, either due to cowardice or design, and when they do act, it will be with overwhelming and deadly force. Martial law will be enacted and a police state will ensue. The government will use that as an excuse and a means to continue the police state into the future in perpetuity and will enact legislation to limit freedoms. An authoritarian state will be born inside every "civilized" country and the people will be glad for it; at first. By the time they become weary of it, the systems will be so firmly entrenched that escape will be impossible. It will be the real time, real life enactment of the meme that says, "You can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out of it."
When we read what Jesus and John and Daniel have to say about the end times, it sure seems like a totalitarian world to me. If this is the case, could it be that the devil is finally making his moves to gain the control that he needs to install his anti-christ figure to rule over the world? I can't shake that thought from my head. I believe that we are so close to identifying the end times scenarios in the world around us. I have other theories that lead me to believe that this generation will be the one to see the anti-christ take centre stage. I know that many have said the same thing for the last 20 centuries, but so much is now in place that wasn't even possible before now, yet it all comes together in this time and place.
I just want to point out to you that the increase in chaos is not simply a random occurrence. I believe that this is an intentional act by Satan and those who do his bidding in order to achieve his goals.
But we do not live in fear. We know how the story ends and who will be victorious. Things may not be easy for us in the coming years, but hold tight to the faith and trust that God will bring you through, whether in life or in death. This is ultimately His plan, but He has to let the devil think that he is winning in order to accomplish His will in the end. And keep in mind, where you see chaos and destruction, you are witnessing the devil's work, but where you see peace and comfort within the chaos, you know that God is there and that God is in control.
