Might Our Attempts at Directed Human Evolution Disqualify Us From the Salvation of Jesus

 

 I want to delve into a heavy topic today. I know, it's not like I haven't done so before, but I just want to preface everything that follows with that...warning, if you will. 

We are living in a time that even our own grandparents could have never envisioned occurring in their lifetime. When Daniel is speaking with the angel as is recorded in Daniel 12, he is told that, in the context of the end of time on earth, "knowledge will increase". We are witnessing that right now, at an unprecedented pace.

In the early 1980's, Buckminster Fuller developed a Knowledge Doubling Curve Theory which has, arguably, correctly predicted the advance of human knowledge starting from ancient civilizations to today. His theory states that from the beginning of civilization up to around 1900, the advancement of human knowledge plodded along at a very slow pace which resulted in human knowledge doubling only over the course of centuries. There will be many reasons for this, not the least of which was the inability of people to share ideas quickly over large distances. Cooperation among peers in science and academia has long played a large part in the accumulation of knowledge, and the advent of instant communication, beginning with the telephone and carrying on to instant messages, emails and the ability to post large quantities of information on the internet for people to peruse have greatly increased the accumulation of knowledge through collaboration.

Fuller's theory further posits that from the 1900's to about 1945 (the end of World War Two), the increase of knowledge was on pace to double over the course of about 100 years. As we look back over the technological advancements over the courses of World War One and especially World War Two, we can watch this increase unfold at a mind blowing pace. For example, submarine and air based warfare were both in their infancy at the end of WWI. They were in moderate use, but the technologies were juvenile at best and their usefulness in war was in question. Fast forward two decades and these two areas of warfare dominated the battlefields and still do. There were a significant number of advances in infantry tactics and tools, but these were dwarfed by the advances in air and marine warfare.

Fuller's theory finally states that from 1945 - 1982, it was taking only 12 years to double human knowledge, and we are currently doubling our knowledge at a pace of doing so every year or less, and that will only continue to increase as our technology continues to improve.

So, holding to that theory, over the course of millennia it took hundreds of years to double knowledge, suddenly changing around 1900 to taking just one century to double knowledge, but only 45 years later that was cut by a factor of 4; then in less than four decades that was again cut in half, and in another four decades it was again reduced by a factor of 12. Humanity is now doubling our knowledge base in less time than I wear out a pair of socks!

Knowledge advancement is driven by technological advancements. The advent of computers has multiplied that advancement in all areas of knowledge; except morality.

The slow pace of the advancement of knowledge that the world has known for most of it's existence was mostly driven by man's observations of nature; observations which take time to be fully realized. Ironically, if I am remembering things correctly, the first real boom in scientific understanding and knowledge came due to the efforts of Christian scientists during the time that the world refers to as the Dark Ages. It was Christians who were drawn to scientific discovery through their desire to know God, and this was a time when mankind in developed nations was largely devoted to understanding the world as God created it, recognizing Him as the author and creator of everything. Society calls this time the Dark Ages because of the religious fervency of the people as a whole and the overarching role of the church in society, claiming that mankind's strong relationship with religion and faith was holding us back, yet knowledge and the sciences blossomed during this time. 

Also ironically, the abandonment of Christian values brought us from the Dark Ages into what the world calls the Age of Enlightenment, when mankind began to reject God en mass. This name is an oxymoron if ever there was one, yet the world refuses to acknowledge that Christian scientists pursuing an understanding of God through the study of His creation was the beginning of the development of the scientific method, which was later used to justify denying the existence of God.

Unfortunately, secular humanity is driving our western culture today, not religious fervour. And what is it that the culture is pursuing right now? In large part, the culture is driving a pursuit to become whatever it is that you feel like you should or want to be, and this is rooted in the so-called studies of medicine and psychology. I wish I was just talking about being a doctor, or a firefighter or a pilot. No, now we are challenging the notions of gender, sexuality and the nature of human life itself, and this research is not being done with an eye on the Creator, but rather with an eye on the theory of evolution.

With all of our medical and psychological advancements, we are not actually improving humanity with our acquired knowledge anymore, but we are doing irreparable harm now, while calling it "healthcare". Scientists and doctors with warped senses of morality are working on ways to "improve" mankind. They believe in the theory of evolution as espoused by Charles Darwin, but his theory was based on undirected natural evolution of the species in order to remove unwanted traits, while modern professionals are seeking to advance technologies in order to evolve human beings in a purposeful manner to a desired outcome.

I recently watched an interview that covered a lot of topics, but which spent some time on this issue and I will try to share with you some of what was said, though I will not source the interview because I thought that there was some information discussed that could cause confusion to new Believers who have not yet had a chance to develop a firm foundation of their understanding of God.

We are seeing the notion of transgenderism exploding on society. It seems that the professionals are pursuing this with reckless abandon, and I would state that they are doing so not for the health and well being of those that they are claiming to help, but rather in the pursuit of notoriety and the advancement of "medical science". They want wealth and fame and they want to remain relevant. But alongside these ideas we are also seeing people who are paying surgeons to change their appearance to look like creatures that we might have only previously seen on sci-fi movies. There are literally people who are having horns implanted on their heads, getting their tongues split down the middle to achieve a forked tongue, sharpening their teeth, getting their eyes dyed and altered and getting their skin permanently altered to different colours through whole body tattoos. They are taking extreme steps to try to change from appearing human; one might call this transhumanism, but unfortunately, I believe that this trend is about to take a sinister turn from merely modifying the outward appearance to irreversibly connecting us to the Internet of Things (IoT) and also changing the very DNA of people.

The first thing of note that I want to bring to your attention, though I will not spend a lot of time on this, are Elon Musk's plans to bring his Neuralink brain implants into "high-volume production", and to automate the surgical implantation procedure in 2026; this according to an article posted by Reuters on January 1st. As of publishing of the article, Neuralink had not responded to requests for comment, so we will see what comes of this yet. This technological advance is being pushed as a way to help those with spinal injuries to live more fulfilling lives, which is an admirable goal, but we need to always look to the future of this technology, that being universal connectivity to the IoT, including real time GPS tracking, monitoring of your very thought processes, and even potentially clandestine thought manipulation, among other concerns. People are very excited about the future possibilities of this technology, but they appear to be blind to the dangers.

Another topic that I want to touch on is the editing of human DNA, which is happening already on numerous levels. A couple that has used in vitro fertilization to conceive a child already has the opportunity to have the genome of the conceived child analyzed and even edited to change or remove genetic characteristics. This is being marketed as a way to ensure that your child will not be subject to threats of genetic diseases that the parents may have contributed or as a way to alter genetic deficiencies in the embryo, but there is nothing stopping these doctors from altering the human genome to increase intelligence, strength, stamina or any number of other things. Again, the well being of humanity is being used as a sales tactic to advance the acceptance of this technology which can and will be used to alter humanity in other ways.

But we must be careful with all of this alteration of humans. We know that mankind is perplexed by the weaknesses and frailties of humanity and wants to eradicate these undesirable traits, but what is the root of this research? As technology continues to advance and scientists rely more and more on artificial intelligence to speed up the work, I think that we need to be very careful as Christians about what it is that we support and take part in. I have postulated elsewhere that AI is an invention of the devil and that he is using naive humans to advance his own goals towards his beast system, with AI at the centre of it.

Consider what humanity is trying to do by connecting to the internet at all times right in our brains. With that ability, essentially all knowledge is available to all people at all times. We will never be closer to omniscience; a trait that belongs only to God. So are we trying to achieve godhood? Where could that idea have possibly come from?

Oh yeah, it first came up in the Garden of Eden. In Genesis 3:4b-6, we read of the serpent's interaction with Eve as they discussed the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. We see the serpent ask Eve about God's instructions to Adam (Genesis 2:16-17), and then the serpent says to Eve, "You surely will not die! ⁵ For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” ⁶ When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate." 

Now consider that the punishment on mankind for this was that man would have to labour for the rest of his life and the woman would have pain in childbirth. Wouldn't it be just like Satan to try to do an end run around God's prescribed punishment? Conrad Flynn has laid out that this is exactly what Satan is trying to accomplish with the push for Universal Basic Income to cancel God's punishment on man, and automatic gestation chambers to cancel the punishment on women. These two things are currently being promoted and would seemingly reverse the two curses on mankind that we have borne since Genesis.

So we see that Satan has always recognized mankind's desire to obtain knowledge and our desire to be more like God; even to be gods, and knowledge has always been our perceived pathway to achieve this goal. Friedrich Nietzche's work touched on this desire in mankind, and the popularity of his work has exacerbated the problem among the educated. Nietzche stated that humans are a transitory creature, on our way from one existence to another. I suppose that this is not entirely false, since we are living in this world for only a short time on our way to an eternal existence. But Nietzche says that the new man will exist on this earth and on this plane. He asserts that we should be pursuing our own evolution to become the "Ubermensch", or "Over-man". We are pursuing an "over-man" evolution to become like the gods.

This is a guided evolution, but who is doing the guiding and to what end? Satan planted the idea and he is fanning the flames of our "advancement". I believe that this plan has two goals. One, as I have already mentioned, is potentially in order to get mankind to build the system of our own imprisonment and tribulation. The other reason that I think is driving Satan to push man to self betterment and human driven evolution is even more nefarious. Satan is getting mankind to evolve ourselves out of the human species. 

Consider this: are we trying to improve humanity to the point where God will no longer be able to consider us human? If so, we are disqualifying ourselves from salvation wherein Jesus the Christ, part of the Godhead, came to earth to become like man while also remaining fully God. He became our kindred redeemer, a title that we are introduced to in the book of Ruth, where one of the same family line has the right and obligation to rescue a family member from harm. In order to act as our kindred redeemer and to bring us into the presence of God, He had to become as we are - that is, He had to become human. If we are no longer fully human due to what we have undergone as a result of our pursuit of the directed evolution of mankind, then our kindred redeemer no longer has the connection to us that is required for us to be saved. There is only one qualifier for us to receive salvation when we are ready for it; we must be human.

I believe that this is the reason why God had to bring a flood upon the world to destroy not only mankind, but even the animal kingdom; the genetics of human beings and even the animals had become corrupted. In Sunday School and even in most churches, we are taught that the world was "excessively evil", and that is why God had to act. But Genesis 6:9 gives us a glimpse of why Noah was set apart by God to repopulate the earth. In verse 9 we read that, "Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generations"; meaning that his bloodlines had not been corrupted. This comes after several verses in the same chapter where we are told about angels procreating with human women and the result of those actions being men of renown, Nephilim. These are believed to be half human, half "god" beings that were the result of cross breeding. Notice how God sent animals two by two to the ark? He did this so that the animals would procreate like-with-like. God chose the animals that entered the ark in the same way that He chose the people that entered the ark; He needed pure bloodlines to repopulate the earth.

I have also previously written that it is this time frame which likely gave rise to the legends of Greek and Roman mythological creatures. The fallen angels had done immense damage to the bloodlines of animals through bestiality as well as mankind through cross-breeding with women, the latter resulted in making humans a stench in God's nostrils, and this is possibly the same goal in our modern day; the method is just different. The end goal will not be attained through blatant breeding, but through technological advances sold to us as a way to improve humanity.

So we need to ask ourselves, "Is our humanity worth preserving?" God created us in His likeness. This doesn't only mean that we have the power of self-determination and that we have an immortal spirit. We are made in the image of God! This sets us apart from all other created beings. Even the angels are not made in God's image, though they also have the power of self-determination, as was displayed by the angelic rebellion, and they are also immortal beings. We are still different from the angels. In our current form, we are "for a little while lower than the angels" (Hebrews 2:7), but this will change when we are redeemed to Him in the Last Day, then the angels will be a little lower than us. Hebrews 2:7 also says that God has "appointed [us] over the works of [His] hands". We have dominion over the whole earth, yet Satan tells us the lie that we are lowly creatures and that we should be striving for better, even if we are striving against God Himself. If we pursue these so-called "improvements" to ourselves in an attempt to correct some contrived error or shortcoming in God's design for us, we are selling our birthright to eternity for a "bowl of red stew" (Genesis 25:29-34) which is presented to us as a false omniscience or maybe a fountain of youth.

I believe that AI and everything that AI will open up to us is our own "tree of the knowledge of good and evil". The developers of AI believe that AI is the release of mankind into ultimate knowledge, not unlike the fruit of the tree was to Adam and Eve. Satan is making the same bargain with us as he did with them, "Bow down before me and I will give you power." By taking the fruit and eating of it, Adam and Eve forfeited their dominion of the earth and gave it to Satan. Satan attempted the same with Jesus when He was tempting Jesus. In Matthew 4:8-9, we read, "Again, the devil took Him [Jesus] to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; 9 and he said to Him, “All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.” Satan was offering to Jesus what He was already on the path to claim from Satan, and the price was to worship Satan. 

Mankind was given dominion over the earth by God, but that dominion was given up to Satan by Adam. Jesus came to reclaim that dominion for mankind and Satan sought to make it easy for Jesus to avoid His coming suffering and claim that dominion, but doing so would have made Jesus subject to Satan; something that Jesus would never do. Satan tried to fool Him, but Jesus stood on faith. Human directed evolution is Satan's latest tactic to get mankind to take the east way to claim dominion on the earth, but that dominion comes at a steep price. Little do most people realize that Jesus has already purchased that dominion and given it back to us in the form of spiritual authority that we are supposed to be exercising.

And don't fool yourself into thinking that a theologically solid Believer won't fall for this stuff. First, I will point to the Covid scam, which caused too many to abandon their faith that God could carry them through the pestilence unharmed, and instead subjected themselves to masks, isolation and even a new injection.

Second, consider this scenario that was laid out in the video that I was watching. In 10 to 15 years, your kids or grandkids could be living in a world where the vast majority of their peers are permanently and internally connected to the internet and they are able to browse the internet at the speed of thought due to the implants that they have recieved. What are they going to do when they are at a distinct and insurmountable disadvantage when it comes to securing a job or a promotion because they are behind the times regarding the evolution of mankind? How hard is it going to be for them to remain as the old man? Will they choose to become the new man and thereby forfeit their humanity and their salvation? Again, look at what happened during Covid. Look at what fear can accomplish. How many people are going to be able to stand strong against that kind of pressure?

This has been a long attempt to shine the light on things that we are seeing in this world already that can very easily steal the unwise from the hand of God due to our own lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6 warns us that, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Be aware of the schemes of the devil. We will see these efforts to fool the unwise into accepting what needs to be rejected and the pressures are going to continue to grow. Rely on God for guidance, and if you are still in doubt, I would suggest that you do nothing that cannot be reversed. Injections and implantations will be the new way to steal our humanity from us and to create a permanent separation between us and God. Tread carefully!
