The Canadian Persecution of Sean Feucht
I had no intention of delving into the Sean Feucht controversy, but it occurred to me that this is more than just a Christian controversy; this is, in fact a political controversy. For those of you who, like me, have been hearing about but otherwise largely ignoring the uproar that Sean Feucht has had swirling around him recently, here is a cole's notes version of what I have been able to gather.
Sean Feucht has been involved in the Christian music industry in some form or another for around 20 years. He is connected to Bethel Church, which has had it's own controversies over the years. Bethel Church is another one of those issues which I have not cared to dive into too deeply, so I will not be expounding on that here. I will say that, regardless of the controversies around Bethel Church, they have produced some very good worship music over the years, and we have to make a decision about whether we can use and appreciate that music apart from the controversies of the church that produced it.
Sean Feucht has more recently aligned himself politically with the right wing of the political spectrum, and specifically has been involved in prayers and worship sets with and for President Donald Trump, which has gained Feucht the moniker of being MAGA. My opinion of MAGA, whether correct or not, is that the right use it as an anagram for Trump's slogan "Make America Great Again" and it is a rallying call for the right. The left use it as a smear and claim that it is embraced by far-right extremists. Of course, compared to the modern leftists (ie. Democrats and Liberals), anything that is classically conservative is far-right of the liberal positions. This is not because the ideals of the right have changed, because they really haven't; this divide has developed because the left has moved from a notably central political position to one that embraces ideologies of the far-left; they just refuse to acknowledge this shift.
There have also been allegations of fiscal mismanagement aimed at Sean Feucht's different ministry organizations, allegations that I have only recently become aware of and have spent almost no time investigating for myself. The reasons that I have not investigated these allegations are two-fold. First, these allegations have absolutely nothing to do with this article; and second, I am well aware of the typically liberal and largely political tactic of creating and amplifying potentially controversial information in order to smear and discredit those with whom there is a disagreement, whether or not the accusations bear any truth to them. If you want to look into this further, I encourage you to do so, but keep in mind that the media is largely influenced by left leaning politics, so you will have to do some deep digging to find sources of information that are not only attacking Feucht. The allegations could be true or they may be fabricated; I don't know.
For entertainment purposes, I actually looked at a recent article on cbc.ca to see what they had to say about a concert that Feucht put on in Saskatoon. I have since had to scrub my computer with soap and water and douse my eyes with bleach to get the detritus of the CBC reporting off of everything, but the following quote from the article is something that I found interesting and entertaining; "Feucht is a religious singer from the U.S. who has expressed anti-diversity, anti-2SLGBTQ+ and anti-women's rights views on his platforms."
I find the above quote entertaining because I could definitely be accused of the same simply because I hold to Biblical standards. I oppose DEI initiatives as it elevates people based on their skin colour, "religious minority" beliefs or sexual preference or identity instead of recognizing what the individual has to offer to any given organization as a person with skills and ideas. DEI is racist/homophobic/transphobic in it's very nature because it assumes that those who it elevates could not elevate themselves by their own means. I oppose everything that the 2SLGBTQ+ community stands for because everything that they hold dear is anathema to God and His Word. I oppose abortion in every circumstance so I would be considered to be against women's rights, even though there are no rights that men have that women do not have, and even though the option of murdering the human child that is growing in a woman's womb IS NOT a human right and never has been.
The CBC is a Liberal government mouthpiece, and they will amplify the ideology of the Liberal Party, which is to say that both the Liberal Party and the CBC view Christianity as the problem and those who follow it's precepts as the enemy. In fact, Justin Trudeau was famously quoted as saying that Christians are the 'worst part' of Canadian Society. I remember seeing the video clip of him saying this, but it seems to have been effectively scrubbed from the internet. We can't have the truth coming out now, could we?
But getting to the real point of this article, I would like to point out that the decisions that had been made in numerous cities across this nation to allow Sean Feucht to perform have been rescinded not because of any logical reason, but because a Liberal Parliamentary Minister has vocalized his opposition to Sean Feucht personally and as a Federal Government Minister. The Liberal government's Identity and Culture Minister, Steven Guilbeault, who Mark Carney has demoted after having botched the Environment portfolio under Justin Trudeau, made comments indicating that the views of Feucht were such as to cause a danger in the areas that Feucht was planning to perform, and it was based on these comments by the Minister as well as the revocation of a concert permit in a National Park by that same minister that cities in Eastern Canada began to also cancel permits that had been granted to Feucht. Note that it is in Eastern Canada where the Liberal Party received the vast majority of its support in the latest federal election. Also note that Feucht's concerts are allowed to proceed to at least a greater degree in Western Canada which largely rejected the Liberal Party in the latest federal election.
We are seeing the personal views of the notably anti-Christian Guilbeault surface and dictate what are supposed to be government decisions on matters that are protected by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Are we, as Canadians, okay with this?
This is both Christian persecution and political persecution. Liberal supporters should take note. Liberalism used to mean that anyone was able to believe and practice whatever they wanted, and that it was the government's job to protect that right; the current Liberal Party has become a fascist organization where originality of thought and beliefs is no longer allowed. If your ideology is contrary to that of the governing Liberal Party, your rights are forfeit, and if you cannot appeal to the government to protect your rights because it is the government that is trampling on those rights, then what remedy is there to be had? There is none. We cannot count on the courts to judge according to the laws of the land because over the last decade, the Liberal government has stacked many of the courts with Liberal supporters as the judges, which highlights one of the problems that is baked in to the idea that judges are appointed by the government instead of elected by the people.
I have often wondered how it is that so many people continue to support the modern iteration of the Liberal Party. Ever since Justin Trudeau took the reins of the party, it has moved quickly and aggressively away from the classic liberal positions that it used to hold; and Mark Carney may take some tiny steps to move it back towards some more central positions in regards to some social policies such as the aggressive push for DEI initiatives and the promotion of the LGBTQ ideals, but he will only push the party even farther left in regards to government control and overreach.
The was a time when I could have even seen myself voting for a Liberal candidate if I felt that the Conservative candidate was not worthy of my vote. The two parties used to have only a small gap between them when it came to major policy positions; those days are long gone.
Classic liberalism is defined on Britannica.com[a] as "the political-philosophical doctrine which holds that the central problem of politics is the protection of individual freedom or liberty". "All forms of liberalism, however, seek to limit the powers of government, because government itself can pose a threat to individual freedom. The problem that liberalism in general addresses, then, is that of devising a system that gives government the power necessary to protect individual freedom but also prevents those who govern from abusing that power."
I would argue that we have reached a point where the liberal/Liberal governing parties in both the United States and Canada (Canada in particular) have begun to blatantly overreach their own authority. The supposedly 'liberal' ideal that government will "seek to limit the powers of government, because government itself can pose a threat to individual freedom" seems to have been forgotten by the current crop of Liberal leaders. We see that the government in Canada has begun to pick sides based upon ideological positions and to put their hands on the scales of justice, thereby infringing on the rights of the many in order to advance the perceived "rights" of the few. This Sean Fuecht controversy is merely the latest example of this, but given the inability of the people of Eastern Canada as a whole to see this tilting of the scales for what it is rather than what they are being told that it is, it is very possible that we will be stuck with this situation for some time to come.
We recently had a chance to tell the Liberal Party that their ideological bent had gone too far, and a mere four months prior to the election all of the polls were indicating that this was to be the case in a record breaking manner, but the efforts of the media to hide the failures of the previous administration and to raise the irrelevant fear of' 'TRUMP' tilted the scales in the favour of the Liberals once again; a result that this country will pay the price for.
Liberal voters need to realize that they are no longer supporting a classical liberal party. The modern Liberal Party is ideologically driven towards DEI, LGBTQ+ "rights", unlimited abortion which they champion as "women's rights" and "women's health care"; and most importantly, this modern Liberal Party is intent on granting itself more and ever more power over the rights and freedoms of the individuals in this country. They are slowly, yet not that slowly, introducing laws into the books that are infringing on the rights of the individuals and granting the government more power to determine what information you have access to and how and where you are allowed to share your own view points. Does this sound like classic liberalism to you? Does this sound like the government is doing it's job to protect the rights and freedoms of the individual?
Where the freedom to speak and to be heard is infringed upon, and the right to exchange and debate ideas is curbed, is there then any more truth to be told? This is exactly what the west has supposedly been fighting against communism for, yet we are slowly becoming communist ourselves in the name of 'protecting the rights' of minorities. Russia and China are supposed to be viewed as bad countries exactly for the reasons that the government controls the information that the people can obtain, but this is the direction that western 'democracies' are also headed while being entirely oblivious to it. The country is not supposed to be governed for the 'rights' of the minorities, it is supposed to be governed for the good of the majority. Government control, or socialism, are not in the interest of the good of the people.
There is a saying; "You can vote yourself into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out of it." This country has been voting itself into socialism over the last ten years; too much longer and we will have to shoot our way out of it before the government makes all firearms illegal, which the Liberal government is always trying to take baby steps towards accomplishing. This reminds me of another saying; "If the government is trying to take away your guns, it's because they are planning to do something that you would shoot them for." Are you paying attention? The issues around the Christian worship concerts that Sean Feucht has planned to put on are a canary in the coal mine for us. We are no longer living in a free country, and things will only get worse.
