Trump's Inauguration

Today is the day that President Donald Trump re-enters the White House as the Commander in Chief of the United States of America. I am not American, but this will have an effect around the world. Anybody who thinks this will not affect them is a fool. We don't yet know what the full ramifications will be, but I am beginning to suspect that we won't actually like all the things that will change under Donald Trump.

Don't get me wrong, if I could have voted in the American election, I would have voted for Trump. When he ran in 2016 against Hillary Clinton, he was by far the better, or at least the less dangerous candidate. The same was the case in the 2024 election against either Joe Biden or who ended up being the contender, Kamala Harris. We have witnessed on both sides of the Canada/U.S. border what far left ideologies can do to a country. Both countries have become overrun by ungrateful illegal migrants, crumbling economies, and woke ideologies polluting everything from schools to universities to corporations and governments. There is no upside to the far left ideologies that have been supplanting common sense over the last decade or so. It is time to turn this ship around and return to what made North America into what those of us who are older grew up with, and this root is Christian values.

I am under no illusion that electing Trump in the States and Poilievre in Canada, as is expected to happen, will turn our countries back to God. Trump has made claims regarding appreciation for God, but I am yet unconvinced that he has made any life changing commitment himself, and Pierre Poilievre has made no such claims himself that I have ever heard. Besides all of that, a man, especially a politician, should never be our saviour. There is only one Saviour and only one God that we should be looking to as we watch our world slip into anarchy. I am simply stating that on the surface, what we can determine by what we are being shown by these men, they are the better of two less than ideal options.

I believe that Donald Trump has good intentions for the safety and prosperity of his country. We have evidence that he knows how to jump start the American economy from his first term, and economically, a strong U.S. is good for Canada too, especially if we have a leader that knows how to unlock the same economic power in Canada, something that we have been lacking for the last ten years - or more likely, our current leader, Trudeau, has not wanted Canada to be strong and independent, but that is another topic that is probably not worth investigating any further.

My concern is that Trump does not have the leading of the Holy Spirit in his life, and without it, he will have difficulty navigating the pitfalls that his opponents will inevitably place in his path, and he will also have difficulty determining who will work with him and who will work against him, even in his own administration. We saw this during his first term and I'm not convinced that he has figured out how to avoid that this time around. I also wonder if his goals of expanding American influence may have ramifications that we may not yet see, even if his intentions are completely honourable.

For example, Trump has been making comments about absorbing Canada into the U.S. This started out as Trump trolling our feckless leader Trudeau, who is by all measures a weak man. I even found it mildly entertaining for the first week or so, but it seems to have planted a seed in Trump's mind, and even though our vainglorious leader is finally on his way out, Trump hasn't seemed to have let this idea go. There is also the rhetoric about Trump buying Greenland, which seems even more far-fetched that his absorbing Canada, but those who follow Biblical prophecy are aware that there is a mention of 10 end times kingdoms, and best guesses at how the world would be divided up to make 10 kingdoms all have all of North America and Greenland as one kingdom. This is not something to be ignored.

We now have a leader of a major world political and military force who is supported blindly by a teeming mass of adoring fans, who has gained an historic victory in an election which gives him a strong mandate. He is supported by a large christian contingent, as well as a large Christian contingent of people who probably don't spend enough time reading their Bibles and talking to their God and who can be easily convinced that Trump is actually the Saviour of America. He can possibly do not wrong in their eyes. And if the Canadian election goes as it is expected to, Canada will also have a leader with a strong mandate across the entire country, supported by the both classes of "christian", who wants a strong economy and may work to achieve it at any cost. I have less fears about Poilievre's motives and goals than Trump's, but I am open to the possibility that I may be wrong.

I suppose that my main concern is that everybody is getting played. We know that the devil has a plan to install a world leader, either a man or a system, and that this leader will answer "ultimately" to him, the devil. We also know that the devil answers to God and that the final outcome is sure, but the world as a whole doesn't see this and the devil will do as he has always done, and that is to oppose God. We have seen all around the world how the leftist ideologies have gained ground among all the leading governments in the largest and most powerful countries in the world, with Russia ironically being the largest holdout against these ideologies. But now we are also seeing these leftist governments fall through elections and political manoeuvrings. In the last six months or so, we have seen six of the seven G7 governments collapse and movements opposing their far left ideologies have gained strength and momentum. This can seem to be a reason for hope for those of us who recognize the destruction that the policies of these governments wreak. But what if this was the plan all along?

What if the devil's plan was to enable the rise of these governments and policies in order to sow discontent among the peoples of the world, then to offer the remedy to these governments and policies at such a time and in such a way that the "solution" is accepted and even elected in overwhelming majorities all around the world? And what if these solutions are supported by those who profess to be God's children to such a degree that they are blinded to the realities of what their new leaders are doing? Is it possible that conservatives will be the authors of their own deception and downfall into anarchy and tyranny? Jesus warns us about this in Matthew 24:24-25, "For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. 25 Behold, I have told you in advance."

We don't know how things will play out or when. We can look at the things going on around us and try to watch for these things to occur, working hard to not be mislead, but many will be mislead, and the lies will be so convincing that if the elect were not in constant conversation with their God, even they would be mislead. Keep your eyes open. Keep the lines of communication with God active and do everything you can to keep from being mislead. Take nothing for granted and watch.

I pray that this warning would ring out not only in Canada and the United States, but all around the world where these political winds of change are blowing and the people are desperate for a change. Be careful that the change is not one that will entrap you.
