Was Jesus "Perfected" as Opposed to "Perfect"? - Ramifications

Image
I want to try to work through what the possible ramifications are to the thought experiment that I have been conducting lately. It has taken longer for me to think through this than I would have imagined, but we also had the celebration of Christmas in this time frame, so my mind was otherwise engaged as well.  If you are unaware of what that thought experiment is, you can catch up on it by clicking here and here to read what my thoughts have been thus far. As a quick reminder for those who have read the articles already, the main concept that I have been exploring is whether or not Jesus was perfect in His being throughout His entire earthly existence or if He was perfected through His sufferings, in particular in the time of His ministry. The one main thing that remains unchanged, regardless of where one may land in this discussion, is that Jesus died as the perfect sacrifice. If He didn't, then His death would have accomplished nothing at all, He would have merely...

Was Jesus "Perfected" as Opposed to "Perfect"?

I feel that I need to be very careful with what I am going to be presenting here today. I want to make it very clear that what I am writing is not a commonly accepted theological doctrine, but is a continuation of a thought experiment that I started writing about on December 10. If you have not read that or would like a refresher on what was written, you can access that article by clicking here . What follows exists because after I wrote that article, I came across another verse, which lead to a couple more, that may open up that theory a little more. It was maybe two days after I wrote the above mentioned article that my wife and I read Hebrews 5 as part of our shared devotional time. In verses 7-10 of that chapter, we read, " In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety. 8  Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things whic...

GCD Short - You are the Parent

I have come up with an idea that I want to play with. I don't know if this will prove popular or not, but it will help me to post content at those times when I am otherwise busy with life or with researching a topic that I feel is or may be important, as is the case right now. I think there could also be value to this idea in that the content that I will post is of a nature that I consider to be a lost art. That lost art is the art of parenting. It seems that as the generations have progressed there has been a lack of fortitude in the upbringing of our next generations. As someone who has dealt with the years of my own children's youth and having seen how they turned out, I hope that I can add some value to the lives of other parents through my own observations and experiences. I think I will call these posts "GCD Shorts" Following is what a GCD Short text might look like.  One thing that parents seem to have lost sight of is the simple fact that you are the paren...

The Plight of Syria

Image
If you have read through my previous ramblings, you will see that, while I prefer to speak about God's Word and the state of Christianity in the western world in particular, I will sometimes also delve into politics and world events as I see they may have a spiritual or prophetic connection. Over the last several days we have witnessed the sudden downfall of the Assad government in Syria, which leaves a lot about the future of Syria in question. First some history about Syria, but this is recent history going back only about 50 years. Hafez al-Assad, father to Bashar al-Assad, became the president of Syria in 1971 after working his way up the chain of command of Syria's Air Force. Hafez was a member of the Ba'ath Party, which is famously known as the same political party that Saddam Hussein of Iraq was the leader of. What al-Assad shared with Saddam Hussein was that the people groups to which both belonged were actually the minority in their countries, which while it ...
